Orthosis

Orthosis is the correction of disorders of the limbs or spine by use of braces and other devices to correct alignment or provide support. Unlike pre-fabricated braces that come in generic “one-size-fits-all” sizes of small, medium and large, every orthosis that we make at Quicksilvers is custom designed to your specifications. Starting with either a negative cast or drawing (or sometimes both), we fabricate a brace that will meet your exact needs and will fit perfectly.

All of our orthoses are fabricated using the highest quality materials and can be made to include a wide variety of optional add-ons so that the brace does exactly what you need it to do.  No matter what kind of orthosis you require, we can get it done. We also specialize in custom metal and leather orthosis.

Our Custom Fab Orthosis Order Form provides a list of all the options that we offer including:

Non-Articulating AFO – available in Posterior Leaf Spring, semi-solid and solid ankle. They can be made in a wide variety of colors. We can also customize with image transfers such as Disney characters and sport teams.

Articulating AFO – For limiting motion at ankle, medial lateral instability of the ankle, and toe pickup.

PTB (Patella Tendon Bearing) – For offloading tibia, ankle, heel ulcers, planter skin grafts, ankle and foot trauma, chronic ankle pain or ankle fusion, and calcanectomy. NYUCB

Available for many types of braces, including metal and leather double upright AFO or KAFO. One advantage of using a NYUCB foot plate rather than attaching the AFO directly to the shoe is that it allows the wearer flexibility in being able to use the brace with a wide variety of shoes.
